Many researchers and historians have published books regarding the history of Crete. This book published by the Nilüfer Damalı Foundation, is an account of the development of the Cretian problem for the Ottomans, the Ottoman-Greek War in 1897, that arose directly as a result of the conflicts with Crete, and the exhibitions, fairs and help campaigns organized personally by Sultan Abdülhamid, in order to provide financial support for the martyrs, war veterans, orphans and immigrants who came into being as a result of the War. This study is based on available documents. Collections of ephemera, philately and numismatic have been accumulated around that interesting segment of history. This book attempts to provide information not only about the history of Crete, but also about commemorative collectible documents regarding the island. These documents, which we can call memorablia collectibles, include:
