Sinope, an ancient town of glorious past, had structures embellished with exquisite, colorful mosaics surviving from Roman times, under the modern housing. The Mosaics feature representations of mythological themes and personifications, as well as colorful carpets of geometric ornamentation. The present manuscript on Sinop Province Mosaics, from nine different sites, investigates artistic trends and styles, authentic features peculiar to the Sinopean mosaicists, and inquires whether any trace of the influence of other mosaic centers exists. The manuscript contains color pictures of the mosaics and displays mosaic fragments in restituted illustrations.
