The third of our graduate symposiiim series was held in April 2009 at the Middle East Technical University. In 2009, the papers vvere almost entirely on archaeology. While this may have resulted from the increasing number of archaeological research and excavation in the region in the last two decades, as also emphasized by Prof. Gulriz Kozbe, it may also have resulted from our inability to reach a wider group of academics. This brings up the necessity to publicize the event betler in the coming years. In spite of that, there was a great variety in terms of ehronology. The papers extended from the Neolithic period to the Ottoman period and the seholars attended from 13 different universities. This year we had scholars from England, France and Germany. These factors contributed to the dynamic atmosphere of the symposium.
